Digital Humanities (DH) is an emerging field of research in Romanian universities, and due to its interdisciplinary nature, DH attracts specialists from related fields, thus supporting a better circulation of knowledge, reflected in citations, visibility, and participation in international research teams. DH is an eminently interdisciplinary field, open to bold approaches and perspectives from various areas of research and devoted to the principles of open science and excellence in research.
As stated in its founding documents, DHL’s mission is to collaborate with national and international DH centers, beneficiaries, and digital service providers in order to participate jointly in national/international project competitions and to involve its members, as experts, in the development and submission of proposals on research digitization policies. Established in 2019, DHL continues its mission through specific research directions such as: promoting tangible and intangible cultural heritage through digitization methods; text processing with NLP tools; corpus creation and analysis through manual, automatic, or AI-assisted annotation; data/database management through SQL; analysis of new media, digital archives, and online practices; ethics and epistemology of artificial intelligence; digital economy, sustainability, and digital agency; social history, digital storytelling, historical networks, and virtual reconstruction; data analysis through GIS systems; aesthetics and AI-assisted creation; copyright of digital objects/products and other legal aspects related to FAIR.
